Bred to Hunt Large Game

The Weimaraner was initially conceived to track down, hunt and bring down the prey in forest and impenetrable terrain.

The Weimaraner was trained to hunt in packs, pairs and singly. Here it could encounter deer, wild boar as well as bear. The role of the weimaraner required a combination of guile, endurance and boldness because it had to track down, hunt and even bring down the prey.

The Weimaraner was called ‘grey ghost’ because of its amber eyes and silver-grey coat.
